Harris Shoals Park will host a free, family-friendly Earth Day event on April 20 for the community to enjoy a variety of exhibits and activities by many different organizations.
Roughly 20 groups, including Oconee River Land Trust, Georgia Forest Watch and Sandy Creek Nature Center will set up engaging activities and displays alongside scientists from different disciplines.
Those attractions will include practical information about how people can make a difference with the environment.
Attendees can also vote for their favorite exhibit or activity. The non-partisan event is organized by the Oconee Democrats, who will be awarding prize money to crowd favorites.
Recycling for electronic waste and car batteries will also be available. Items like fax machines, printers, keyboard, and computers are encouraged.
The "What on Earth?" event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at Harris Shoals Park in Watkinsville.
