United Way of Northeast Georgia Hosts Clarke County Celebration

The United Way of Northeast Georgia is hosting its Clarke County Celebration Thursday evening.

The celebration is a way to thank donors to last year’s campaign as well as to increase enthusiasm about the impact the United Way is having on the community.

Elizabeth Earl is the Director of Development with the agency.

“We’re offering a nonprofit training series for nonprofits,” Earl said. “To the community, we offer programs that have sustainability and measurable  results impacting early learning and childhood development, workforce development, and basic needs such as food, shelter or disaster relief.”

Last year, United Way touched over 158,000 individuals and families with services offered from 26 funded agencies.

Campaign chair Montez Carter, the head of St. Mary’s Healthcare System, is guest speaker.

Earl says the organization, which covers a 12-county area, provides a variety of programs.

“United Way is simply the most efficient and effective way to help the most people to make the most difference.”

One of the United Way’s biggest outreach efforts is the 2-1-1 program, the health and human services hotline. It offers links to area resources.

The celebration takes place at First American Bank & Trust on college Avenue from 5:30 to 7 pm. The public is invited.
