Former UGA President Chuck Knapp to Interview Former GA Tech President Wayne Clough

Madison –Morgan Cultural Center

The Madison –Morgan Cultural Center is hosting a free event for north Georgia residents. Secretary Emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution and Author Dr. G. Wayne Clough will discuss his book, "Things New & Strange, A Southerner’s Journey through the Smithsonian Collections."

Board member and event co-chair, Annie Hunt Burriss says the former Georgia Tech president will be interviewed by former UGA president Dr. Charles Chuck Knapp.

“We’re going to have a fabulous conversation about Wayne’s new book where he does a deep dive into what is in the Smithsonian about Georgia and he takes us from dinasuars to the present,” according to Hunt Buriss.

The free event is sponsored by the Landmark Society, the Madison-Morgan Conservancy and the Morgan County African American Museum. Executive Director Kim Brown says it’s one of many held at the center.

“We’re a multi-disciplinary arts facility, so we have museums, art galleries and we do over 63 performances during the year, and we do have a humanities program,” Brown said. “So we’re busy all the time.”

Liz Moore says the 4 pm talk is open to all ages, but the day starts with an event for children.

“The talk at two is geared towards eighth through 12th grade, so I think it’ll be awesome. It’s going to be really exciting.”

Clough will hold a book signing after the lecture. Activities are Sunday, October 27th at the

Madison-Morgan Cultural Center's Auditorium.
