On Thursday, October 31st, Governor Brian P. Kemp will unveil "Georgia Access", the 1332 state relief and empowerment waiver authorized by the signing of the Patients First Act (S.B 106) in March of 2019. The announcement will take place at 2:00 PM in the Governor's Ceremonial Office at the State Capitol Building.
The Patients First Act (SB 106) was introduced in the Georgia State Senate by Governor Kemp's Floor Leader, Senator Blake Tillery (R - Vidalia).
"The Patients First Act is a step toward lowering insurance premiums, enhancing access to quality care, and improving health outcomes in every part of our state," said Governor Kemp. "By working with Lt. Governor Duncan, Speaker Ralston, and the legislature, we will craft a Georgia-centric healthcare system that ensures a bright and healthy future for all Georgians - no matter their zip code."
Governor Kemp signed The Patients First Act into law on March 27, 2019. The Act authorizes the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) to submit a Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver request to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and also authorizes the Governor to submit a Section 1332 waiver to identify innovative health insurance coverage solutions for the commercial health insurance marketplace.
