Runaway Teens Accused of Stealing Truck, Facing Several Charges

Two teenagers are accused of stealing a truck from an Athens gas station, fleeing from police and striking two other vehicles during the incident. No injuries were reported in those collisions.

Athens Police say the 15 and 16 year olds were reported as runaways from a Columbus, Georgia DFACS facility. 

Police say on Sunday, January 5, they stole a pickup truck from a gas station on Atlanta Highway. Georgia State Patrol officers stopped the truck and the teens were taken to a Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville.

They are facing several charges including: felony Theft by Taking, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement Officers, Reckless Driving, and two counts of Hit and Run.

There were no ACCPD injuries and no ACCPD vehicles were damaged.
