Clarke County School District Hosting Elections for School and District Governance Advisory Boards

Clarke County Schools

The Clarke County School District encourages community members to apply to join either a Local School Governance Team (LSGT)or a Parent Advisory Board (PAB), which will operate at all 21 CCSD schools by providing governance and feedback to the schools.

Parents, community members, faith leaders and business representatives are all invited to apply to serve on LSGTs, which will “work with school leaders to set school goals, develop plans, help design strategies to boost student learning and serve as a bridge to the full school community.” Each school has three “Community Seats.” Anyone in the community regardless of where the school is located or where they reside in Clarke County can serve in any community seat.

The PAB will provide a forum for discussion between parents, the school district administration and the Clarke County Board of Education. The PAB will have two parents from its community to serve on the board. They will meet monthly to discuss “district-wide issues and programs and offer advice and feedback to the superintendent.”

Applicants for both positions can apply online before March 16. The Office of Community Engagement and Strategic Partnerships will manage the online, school-wide election process.

On March 2 and March 16 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. community members can attend community information sessions at the Athens Community Career Academy. For more information, contact Fenwick Broyard, Community Support Specialist, at broyardf@clarke.k12.ga.us or 706-546-7721, ext. 20741.
