AthFest Educates Donates $10,000 to Nuçi's Space

AthFest Educates

An Athens nonprofit has made a significant contribution to a fellow organization. AthFest Educates made a $10,000 donation to the Garrie Vereen Emergency Relief Fund at Nuci’s Space .

Jill Helme is the Executive Director of AthFest Educates.

"The AthFest Educates Board voted this week to make that donation, to support the music industry professionals in our community that are suffering financially because all of the work that they do has essentially been shut down," Helme said.

The fund was set up for music and entertainment industry employees affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helme encourages members of the Athens community and others, who are able to help those who are financially devastated by social distancing measures, to do so.

"So hopefully, this donation helps and hopefully encourages other people to go to the Nuçi's Space websiteor Facebook page and make additional donations."

She said the Athens community in particular, has a significant need.

"There’s a lot of folks who are going to need support and while we’re thrilled to make this $10,000 donation, it’s only going to go so far and people are going to certainly need more assistance,' acording to Helm. "The more support the fund can get the better.”

AthFest supports music and arts education for young people in Athens.
