The thunderstorms that swept across North Georgia in the early hours this morning resulted in power outages for some Jackson EMC members. Line crews have been dispatched, and they are working to restore power to those affected.
Members were impacted across our 10-county service area. At the peak of the damage, we had around 16,000 members with sustained outages – meaning we had to make physical repairs to the lines.
At 10 a.m. Monday, Jackson EMC is experiencing 124 individual outages affecting 1,300 members. Most outages remain in Banks, Hall and Jackson counties.
We were able to restore a large number of outages due to our automated technology.
The biggest causes of outages this morning were wind, fallen trees and lightning.
Around 100 linemen worked throughout the night to restore power, and they are still working as quickly as conditions and safety measures will allow.
