ACC Establishes, 'READY. SET. GO SAFELY,' Campaign for Safe Reopening

Athens-Clarke County Government

With an eye to the reopening process following COVID-19, Athens-Clarke County community organizers announced on Thursday, June 18th, the 'READY. SET. GO SAFELY' campaign.

Mayor Kelly Girtz said of the campaign, “By making deliberate and often challenging changes to their lifestyles and habits, they have helped slow the spread of COVID-19 locally. The thoughtful steps and commitments of the Ready, Set, Go Safely program will help us continue to move forward carefully into our next phase by doing so together as a community."

The actual steps pushed for in the plan are divided into three categories. First, for businesses to be “READY,” they should, “Establish and follow approved protocol,” and, “Monitor and follow distancing and capacity guidelines.” In order for businesses to be “SET,” they should, “Follow CDC standards for sanitizing and disinfecting,” and, “Train employees on protocol to reduce the spread.” Finally, in the, “GO SAFELY,” category, businesses should, “Wear cloth face coverings and maintain 6 feet of distance,” and, “Welcome patrons who are following guidelines.”
