Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement to Host Event on Thursday, June 25th

ATHENS ANTI-DISCRIMINATION MOVEMENT

This Thursday from 5:30-7pm in front of Athens City Hall, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement will host a rally titled “Justice for Black Lives: Confronting Racial Injustices.” The event is focused on showing support for HB426, as well as the removal of the Confederate monument currently in downtown Athens, and, “to reiterate our demands for police accountability.”

 

The organizers included a list of demands within the press release for the event. These included the mentioned focuses of the rally, as well as a, "demand that law enforcement officers are removed from the school system,” and to, “establish a meaningful community police advisory board by August 2020.” 

 

The movement ended their release by asking, “that all attendees be mindful of social distancing and wear masks to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.”
