AthFest Educates Opens Application Period for Grants for Music and Arts Education

From July 6th to August 26th, AthFest Educates will be accepting applications for its annual music and arts education grants for the 2020-2021 school year. Teachers, community educators, nonprofit organizations, and public schools, and state or local government agencies serving youth are eligible to apply. Art and music teachers are not the only educators welcome to apply—educators seeking grants to support learning in core subject areas such as math, social studies, science, and language arts through music and art are encouraged to apply as well. 

In previous years, only programs serving kindergarten through eighth grade students for the grants. Because of ongoing fundraising from Jittery Joe’s, which donates a portion of sales from its CREATE! coffee to AthFest Educates, the grants are now eligible for programs serving high school students, as well.

The grants are given out in three categories: music and arts based non-consumable equipment, such as musical instruments and audio/visual equipment; programs and experiences for students that are music and arts focused; and music and arts-based professional development for educators and/or youth development specialists. 

Awards will be announced September 29th, and winners can expect to receive grants October 5th.
