AADM to Host Discussion Panel at Virtual Conference

Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement

Members of the Athens community are invited to take part in a panel discussion hosted by the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement Saturday. The End the School to Prison Pipeline Conference will allow attendees the opportunity to discuss the issue, participate in a panel discussion with guest speakers, learn how to create anti-racist environments, and how to get involved. Sachi Sashtri is volunteer coordinator with the organization.

“We'll be discussing policies that kind of go into facilitating the school to prison pipeline, and then discussing ways in which we can advocate for policies that would get rid of the school to prison pipeline.”

Sashtri says the AADM provides a variety of services in the community.

“Any folks who are incarcerated or if people know family members who are incarcerated for minor offenses we try to operate a small bail fund to see if we can bail those individuals out. We also offer services for those who have discrimination complaints against employers or government officials or anything of the sort. We offer online tutor services, and a more comprehensive list of the services that

AADM provides can be found on our Facebook page."

The virtual conference is Saturday from 10:30 am until 3 pm via Zoom. You can register for the event on the event’s Facebook page
