The Athens Clarke County Sustainability Office is reaching out to the community through a series of online town hall meetings.
The five web-based meetings scheduled during the month of April, including one Thursday night, are part of the county’s Clean and Renewable Energy Campaign, which aims to use clean and renewable energy sources to provide 100 percent of ACC’s electricity by the year 2035, and 100 percent of the city’s total energy needs by 2050.
ACC staff will moderate the town hall meetings, with the aim of explaining the Clean and Renewable Energy Campaign. Participants will learn more about the goals of the campaign, as well as how energy use affects the community and will have the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback about the campaign. All Athens Clarke County residents are invited to attend any of the five meetings, which are scheduled as follows:
- Clean and Renewable Town Hall #1: Thursday April 8th, 6:30pm-8:30pm
- Clean and Renewable Town Hall #2: Saturday April 10th, 1:30pm-3:30pm
- Clean and Renewable Town Hall #3: Monday April 19th, 11:30am-1:30pm
- Clean and Renewable Town Hall #4: Thursday April 22nd, 6:30pm-8:30pm
- Clean and Renewable Town Hall #5: Tuesday April 27th, 11:30-1:30pm
Clarke County residents can also watch the meetings live or on demand at the ACCGov YouTube channel. The Sustainability Office has posted a related survey online (Clean and Renewable Energy Campaign). The survey is available both to meeting attendees, as well as to those who are not able to attend.
