AADM to Hold Unity Roundtable Saturday

AADM

The Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement is holding a unity roundtable this Saturday. Asian and Black Voices on Unity takes place from 2 to 3 pm. AADM president Mokah Jasmine Johnson.

"We're still advocating for the Black and Asian community to come together. Also, to support the Asian community and rise up against hate, so we are going to have a roundtable discussion. People can join us by zoom, and you can visit our website to get the link. That is going to be n Saturday. Also, we're doing our auction fundraiser online to raise funds for our Justice Center. We are a grassroots organization and we want to continue doing good work, and so we're having an auction and people should check it out. It's a great way to give back and also get something in return. You will find all that information if you visit our website at aadmovement.org."

The nonprofit is also wrapping up a benefit auction. Bids are still being accepted and the event culminates in a live auction from 7 to 8 pm this evening. The live auction is open to both in-person attendance at the organization’s Justice Center, as well as virtual attendance through Zoom. The proceeds benefit the AADM’s programs and services.

"You can go on our website and begin to look at the different items that we have and you can place your bid. And then you can join us, and make your final bid. It's kind of a fun process, we're trying to do it by Zoom. People have a week to go online and place their bid in advance, and then the day of, if no one places a bid above you, then you will be the winner."

In-person attendees are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
