A program allowing restaurants and specialty shops to expand their outdoor dining area through temporarily converting parking spaces is expected to see a vote by ACC commissioners on Tuesday.
A pilot program creating “parklets” in parking spaces on College Square met with approval from many business owners and patrons. An April survey showed that nearly 78% of respondents supported creating a parklet ordinance to make the program permanent.
The proposed Parklet Ordinance expands on the program, allowing restaurants and specialty shops to serve beer and wine as long as customers keep alcoholic beverages within the parklet.
The commission’s Government Operations Committee approved the draft parklet ordinance in June, setting the measure up for a final vote by the full commission on Tuesday.
