Georgia motorists will continue to see some relief at the pumps for a while. Governor Brian Kemp has extended the suspension of the state’s gas taxes for the third time. In addition to suspending the motor fuel tax, Kemp also signed an executive order suspending the sales tax on locomotive fuel. Under state law, the governor can suspend taxes by executive order if state lawmakers ratify the action later. Georgia’s state tax on the gasoline price normally includes a state tax of 29.1 cents per gallon.
