Last week, Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp announced a new statewide marketing campaign to help recruit and retain more foster parents for children in state custody. Susie Weller is Executive Director of Children First, the nonprofit which helps place foster children in Athens and Oconee County. She says more families are desperately needed. In addition, Weller hopes to see the number of foster homes increase to be able to keep foster children from Clarke and Oconee counties in the area instead being moved to different parts of the state.
Foster parents can be newly-married, single, male, female, and younger adults over 21.
