Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said on Wednesday that she has tested positive for coronavirus, a day after delivering her “Georgia Thrives” economic policy speech at a downtown Atlanta brewery.

Abrams campaign spokesperson Michael Holloman said she had tested negative two straight days before the Tuesday speech, where she spoke on new policy initiatives such as the legalization of casino gambling. Her campaign asked attendees to wear masks and complete a rapid test before entering the building, though Abrams delivered her speech without a mouth covering.

Abrams is experiencing mild symptoms and is isolating at home but expects to return to traveling the state to “meet Georgians as soon as possible,” her campaign said.
