Rosalynn Carter is celebrating her 95th birthday today around some of her lifelong favorite creatures. The former first lady and her husband, Jimmy Carter, visited the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail, which she established to address her concerns about the decline of pollinator populations, especially Monarch Butterflies.
Mrs. Carter and her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, also attended the dedication of a new butterfly sculpture on the trail last Saturday. These events honor Mrs. Carter’s longtime fascination with butterflies and help promote the Great Georgia Pollinator Census, a yearly statewide count of butterflies being held this Friday and Saturday.
The Carters celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary last month.
