Governor Kemp Renews Supply Chain State of Emergency and Extends Gas Tax Suspension

Brynn Anderson via Associated Press

Today, Governor Brian P. Kemp signed two executive orders to renew the supply chain state of emergency and extended the temporary suspension of state taxes on motor and locomotive fuel. Both orders will be effective through October 12, 2022 and will provide tax relief and curb high gas prices amid a period of high inflation and ongoing supply chain disruptions.

Since Governor Kemp suspended fuel taxes in March, the average gas price in Georgia has remained one of the lowest in the nation. According to AAA, the price for a gallon of regular gas in Georgia is currently around 46 cents below the national average.
