Athenians looking for some family-friendly fare this weekend have a few options. First up is the 32nd Annual Insect-ival at the State Botanical Garden. The event features a variety of entomological experts, insects, booths, a puppet show and a butterfly release on the Flower Garden. Insect-ival takes place from 9 am until 1 pm. The cost is $5 per person and $20 per family.

If your tastes run to less creepy, crawly critters, the Athens Regional Library is hosting a Plant Parent Support Group, also on Saturday.

Rhiannon Eades, Public Information Officer with the library, says the session is for everyone in all stages of plant parenthood, from novices to more experienced gardeners.

Plant Parent Support Group is from 2 to 3 pm. It is free and open to the public.
