Prince Ave. Pilot Project Survey Open Through Nov. 23

Nicole Jordan

Pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers may have noticed some major changes along Prince Avenue in recent days. Now, they have a chance to weigh in on whether those changes should be permanent.

In mid-September, Athens-Clarke County began implementing a major lane makeover over a half-mile segment of the busy street -- from just east of North Milledge Avenue to Pulaski Street as part of a pilot program to see if the road can be made safer and more accommodating to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The project cuts the number of vehicle lanes from four to two, while adding a center turning lane, and creating two separated bike lanes for a 60-day trial period.

Until Nov. 23, Athenians can comment on Prince Ave.’s redevelopment through the ACCGov’s Prince Ave. Pilot Project Story Map and Survey.
