Athenians can still voice their opinion regarding the planned library branch on the East Side. The Athens-Clarke County Government is accepting public input through Friday, October 7.
Residents will have a series of guidelines as they are asked to consider criteria for potential locations. They include assess to transit, acreage, connection to utilities and more.
Some $14.4 million has been designated for the East Side Public Library through SPLOST funds. The state will provide an additional 2 million.
Those funds will cover construction, public art, books, permitting and other items.
Athens Regional Library System Executive Director Valerie Bell and ACC Commissioner Carol Myers discussed the proposed facility.
If you’d like to weigh in on the site and criteria for the new library, visit www.accgov.com/eastsidelibrary. More public input opportunities will be available through various phases of the process.
