The Athens Regional Library is once again open to the public. The facility closed temporarily on September 29th when bed bugs were discovered on a chair on the second floor. The library closed for pest control treatment.
No overdue fines have accrued on materials checked out from the Baxter Street location during the temporary closure. Holds have also been extended.
“The health and safety of our library visitors and staff are our highest priority,” said Athens Regional Library System Executive Director Valerie Bell.
The annual Friends of the library book sale resumes today and Tuesday, from 10 am until 7 pm both days.
Both days are “Bag Day,” where shoppers can fill a grocery bag provided by the Friends, with books for $10.
All proceeds from the sale benefit the library.
