Early voting continues to set records after a busy weekend

Voters are casting ballots in Georgia’s midterm election in higher numbers than ever before. The Secretary of State’s office reports that as of Sunday morning, abut 740,000 Georgia voters have cast ballots in early voting, including nearly 80,000 who voted on Saturday.

Early voting in this election continues to shatter record turnouts over the same period of time during the last midterm in 2018 and the 2020 presidential election. When combined with absentee voting, total turnout in 816,862. The office says early voting turnout is expected to increase during the last week of early voting and voters are encouraged to take advantage of next Saturday’s voting session.

As of 1pm on Friday, 3,007 Athenians had voted early, about 2.5% of Athens’ population.
