National Health Philanthropy Calls for Government Action to Address Maternal Health in U.S.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a national health philanthropy, is calling for action to address maternal health in the U.S. Dr. Monique Shaw is a senior program officer at the organization.
The situation is even worse for women of color, particularly black women.
Dr. Shaw says the situation is not necessarily a lack of resources, but more a failure to adequately and equitably allocate resources.
She says southern states like Georgia and those in the Midwest tend to do worse than others.
