Collins appointed to several key committees

Ike Hayman

Republican Congressman Mike Collins, elected in November to represent Athens and surrounding counties in Georgia's 10th Congressional district, has been appointed to several key House committees.

He was selected for the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology which has jurisdiction over energy, aeronautical, and other non-defense research as well as federally owned and operated non-military laboratories. The committee also oversees federal government agencies like the National Weather Service.

Collins is the first Georgia Republican since 2021 to serve on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure which deals with highways, railroads, bridges, aviation, maritime, and waterborne transit.

He was also appointed to the Natural Resources Committee that holds wide ranging jurisdiction over United States energy production, mining, fisheries and wildlife, public lands, oceans, legislation involving Native Americans and other environmental matters.
