Clarke County School Board to discuss staffing issues and a $2 Million investment

The Clarke County Board Of Education will meet tonight to discuss a new plan to address staffing shortages and retention challenges as well as consider a $2 million investment into the school district’s culinary program.

The board will decide on whether to partner with Public Impact, a non-profit educational firm, to implement their Opportunity Culture Initiative, which helps districts restructure budgets to provide better pay and improved support to teachers and staff.

The Athens Community Career Academy Culinary Program may receive additional funding to expand their cooking area, located at Classic City High School, to provide a wider variety of food preparation techniques and better prepare students for a career in culinary arts.

The meeting will be held at Vernon Payne Meeting Hall and starts at 6pm.
