March is Women’s History Month and Athens joins the rest of the nation in commemorating and celebrating the role of women in American life and history.
Jill Gonzalez is an analyst with the personal finance website WalletHub. She discusses a recent report showing where women still lag behind men in many areas. Multiple factors were considered in compiling that list of living standards for women. They include unemployment, safety, healthcare, and more.
Gonzalez says Georgia came in near the bottom when it comes to how women fare in the nation.
The observance started as “Women’s History Week” in 1982 before expanding to the entire month in 1987.
