Athens nonprofit Chess and Community is hosting its 10th annual conference this weekend. This year’s theme is “Harnessing the Power of Tech, Reimagining What’s Possible.”
The conference features ongoing events like chess competitions between area students and local law enforcement officers, and visiting students, as well as a robotics competition.
Founder and Executive Director Lemuel “Life” LaRoche says the organization more than a chess club. The conference also recognizes four winning essays from area students.
It takes place Saturday, March 18th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Classic Center. Visit chessandcommunity.org for more information.
