The 12th Annual Firefly Trail Ticket to Ride takes place this weekend. Some 250 cyclists will take to the roads and towns from Athens to Union Point for the non-competitive event. Mark Ralston is president of Firefly Trail Incorporated. He says funds raised will by the race will support the nonprofit Firefly Trail Inc. with its work of assisting communities in building and maintaining the trail.
The race will have starting points in Athens, Winterville, Union Point, and unincorporated Greene County. The full route will be 86 miles, but riders can choose from several options as short as 18 miles. Once completed, the Firefly Trail will stretch 39 miles.
