Expansion Underway at Foodbank of Northeast Georgia

Food Bank of Northeast Georgia

Work is underway in the construction of a new, larger, facility for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. After 31 years at the current facility, on Newton Bridge Road, staff members are making plans to move across the street once the new building is completed. Erin Barger is President and CEO at the facility. She says that additional space is essential.

The facility provides food and groceries for multiple pantries, including mobile and school pantries, as well as the Food to Kids programs. The food bank distributed 11 million pounds of food throughout 14 counties last year. The current building is 40,000 square feet and the new facility will increase space by 65%.
