Public Hearings Scheduled for Upcoming Voting Changes in Athens

The Athens-Clarke County government is holding public hearings for possible polling location and precinct changes.

The ACC Board of Elections is considering changes to six Election Day polling site voting locations and precinct lines for some Clarke County voters. Voting districts will not change, but some locations for in-person voting on Election Day would.

Locations at the Georgia Square Mall and Multimodal Center must be relocated due to redevelopment, space challenges, and parking. Two public hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, June 20 from 6 to 7:30 at Athens-Ben Epps Airport and Tuesday, June 27, at the ACC Extension Office.

Any voter affected by either the polling location or precinct line changes will receive a new precinct card at least 90 days prior to the Presidential Preference Primary on March 12, 2024, per state law.

The Board of Elections will vote on the new locations on July 11. For more information, or to view the list of proposed polling locations, visit www.accgov.com/elections.
