Georgia Representative Mike Collins voicing his support for the Fiscal Year 2024 Agricultural appropriations bill. The measure provides nearly $26 billion in discretionary funding.
Collins says proposed changes included in the measure would benefit Georgia producers, by eliminating regulations on livestock and cuts spending.
Critics, including the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, say those cuts would cut WIC and SNAP benefits for millions of recipients, and rescind $500 million in unrestricted funding from the American Rescue Plan Act among other cuts.
Collins says the measure would support producers and invest in agricultural and medical research.
