Governor Brian Kemp has issued a State of Emergency for all of Georgia in preparation for Hurricane Idalia’s anticipated impact this week. The storm is currently expected to move through the state Wednesday, bringing heavy rainfall and damaging winds throughout Southeast Georgia. Widespread wind gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour are possible in the area, with some places seeing 70 to 80 mile per hour gusts and up to eight inches of rain. Additionally, counties under a Hurricane Warning should expect widespread power outages and danger from downed trees and powerlines.
The State of Emergency went into effect Tuesday, August 29th and will expire at 11:59 pm Friday, September 8th.
