As Tropical Storm Idalia heads back out to sea, restoration and repair efforts are underway in southeast Georgia. There is one reported death, caused by a tree falling on a Lowndes County resident, 44 families remain in shelters and thousands remain without power.
GEMA director Chris Stallings discussed restoration efforts Thursday morning.
Stallings said 32 cell phone towers were also down.
