Athens-Clarke County is seeking applicants for their second Poet Laureate. The position aims to grow the influence and exposure to poetry in segments of the community where there has traditionally been limited access and is a part of the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Arts Division.
The poet laureate will be expected to serve a two year term and make community appearances promoting literary arts. The appointment of a new poet laureate comes at the end of the term of the inaugural position held by Jeff Fallis. Fallis’ achievements in this role include the county’s involvement in National Poetry Month in April. He also established the Dial-a-Poem initiative in April, where people could call a hotline and hear a poem read by Fallis himself.
Those who are interested can find further details here or email the ACC Public Art Coordinator Tatiana Veneruso with additional questions.
