The Athens Regional Library is encouraging area residents to get their library cards. September is library card sign up month and the Athens library is raffling off prizes and the end of the month as part of the Score Big with Your Library card campaign.
While cards are needed to check out books and use some services or resources, Darcy Downey, Public Information Officer at the facility, says all of the programs sponsored by the library are open and available to the community and do not require library cards. Every child in the Clarke County School District automatically receives a library card.
