ACCPD Chief Jerry Saulters Discusses Incentives, Vacancies

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department recently received over a million and a half dollars in state funding for hiring incentives. ACCPD Chief Jerry Saulters discussed the funds with WUGA.

The department currently has 50 vacancies for sworn officers and 17 vacancies in the communication center. Chief Saulters says that’s typical for law enforcement agencies around the nation. He believes the funding will help the department get back to pre-pandemic levels over the next two years.
The grant was $1.65 million.
