Nonprofits Drum up Latino Interest in Special Election

Clarke County voters are heading to the polls to cast their ballots in the Special Election. Canvassers for local nonprofits Latinos for Democracy and Ulead Athens have been out all week drumming up Latino citizens' interest in the polls.

Brittany Lopez is the civic engagement coordinator for Ulead Athens. She discussed their efforts.

Voters are determining the next Clerk of Court, candidates Elisa Zarate, the current interim clerk, and Andrew Griffeth are on the ballot. Winterville residents are voting Mayor and City Council Members. To find your polling location, visit mvp.sos.georgia.gov. Polls are open until 7 pm Tuesday.
