Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter was memorialized Tuesday in a private ceremony at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta. Former President Jimmy Carter, whose participation had been a day-to-day decision because of health concerns, was in attendance. President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentlemen Doug Emhoff also attended the service. The tribute is the second of a three-day schedule of events celebrating the former first lady and global humanitarian who died at the age of 96. Former Athens Mayor Gwen O’ Looney worked with Mrs. Carter. She shared her impressions of the former First Lady with WUGA.

Others in attendance included former president Bill Clinton and a rare gathering of all living U.S. first ladies, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Melania Trump, Michelle Obama, and Laura Bush. Governor Brian Kemp and Marty Kemp also attended.
In lieu of flowers, Rosalynn Carter requested that donations be made to the Carter Center Mental Health Program or the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers.
