The University of Georgia's Advertising and Public Relations program has been recognized as a top five finalist for the Outstanding Education Program in the nation by PRWeek, a prominent publication in the public relations industry. The nomination is part of the 2024 PRWeek US Awards, which evaluates programs based on criteria such as faculty, student body, programs and courses, workforce impact, and professional involvement.

Dean Charles N. Davis expressed pride in the acknowledgment, stating that PRWeek's awards are considered the gold standard in the communications industry. The winner of the top education award will be announced at a PRWeek gala in New York City on March 14, 2024. Other finalists include The City College of New York, Syracuse University, the University of Florida, and the University of Southern California.

The UGA AdPR program, led by Juan Meng, an Athletic Association Endowed Professor, and head of the AdPR department, received the exciting news that it is a finalist for the PRWeek Awards in its first year of submission. The comprehensive entry, coordinated by Meng and an adhoc committee of faculty, alumni, and members of the AdPR Executive Advisory Board, highlighted the program's leadership, collaboration, and quality.

Ellen Ryan Mardiks, chairman at Golin and co-chair of the AdPR Executive Advisory Board, emphasized the significance of the nomination in recognizing AdPR's commitment to academic training, engagement opportunities, and professional success. The Outstanding Education Award is one of over 45 awards presented by PRWeek, celebrating excellence in corporate, agency, nonprofit, and education teams, marking the 25th anniversary of the awards.
