Georgia public school teachers and state employees could see pay raises this year, according to the newly proposed state budget.
A first draft of the state’s 2025 fiscal year budget passed in the Georgia House on Thursday. The budget would spend $36.1 billion in state money and $66.5 billion overall in the budget year beginning on July 1.
Teachers would receive a $2,500 raise, while state and university employees would see a 4% pay increase up to $70,000. Law enforcement officers, child care workers and judges would also see raises.
The budget will now go to the state Senate for further debate
