UGA’s latest Regents’ Professors will host the 2024 Spring Charter Lecture on their research

On March 27, Professor Diana Downs and Professor Amanda Murdie will present their respective research which led to their award as Regent Professors.

The award recognizes the research and academic achievement of professors at UGA and is the highest professorial recognition under the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.

Downs is a Research Professor in the Department of Microbiology in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, and Mudie is an Athletic Association Professor in the School of Public and International Affairs and head of the Department of International Affairs.

Down's presentation will focus on new metabolic knowledge based on a bacterial model system, While Murdie’s will discuss the efficacy of foreign policy actions for human rights and security.

The charter lecture will be held at the University Chapel at 11 a.m.
