Not guilty plea from the second of two men charged in the death of a homeless man last year

WGAU

A not guilty plea from the second of two men charged in the beating death of a homeless man last year. Andre Carthens is charged with murder and aggravated assault. A co-defendant, Antion Parks, entered a similar plea in March. Both are charged with killing 42 year old Jarrard Eric Pittard whose body was found December 3rd near railroad tracks at North Avenue and Willow Street.

Parks and Carthens were living in a homeless camp off Newton Bridge Road at the time of their arrests, which came about two weeks after the killing. Court documents show the murder was violent with extensive blunt force trauma to Pittard’s body. Both men remain in jail without bond.
