The judges of the circuit unanimously voted for Lott to take on this position effective on May 1.

According to the former chief Judge, Eric Norris, Lott is the first female chief judge of the superior court of the Western Judicial Circuit. Lott succeeds Norris, who served as chief judge for the last four years.
