A group of pro-choice advocates is holding a series of rallies in Athens and surrounding areas.
Members of Indivisible Georgia District 10 and supporters are hosting several protest rallies to mark the two years since Roe v Wade was overturned. Organizers want to mobilize voters in the push to restore abortion rights. Karen Covi is a member of the group.
"Democracy is on the ballot in November,” Covi said. “We are holding a rally on Monday, June 24th to mark two years since Roe v Wade was overturned and also to protest the threat of Trump and the GOP to take away our rights to choose. So, we’ll be asking folks to vote in November for candidates who support abortion rights and our freedom to choose because abortion is healthcare. Come join us.”
The Athens rally is Monday, June 24 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Baxter Street and Alps Road.
Additional rallies are planned for Danielsville on Friday, June 21st and Watkinsville on Saturday, June 22nd.
