Hall County Solicitor indicted on theft and false statement charges

WGAU

Hall County taxpayers may be the victims of an embezzlement scheme. A grand jury delivered an indictment against the county’s solicitor last week.

Hall County Solicitor Stephanie Woodard was indicted on 24 counts. Her alleged crimes—theft and making false statements. Woodard is alleged to have stolen over $4000 from Hall County and the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia on multiple occasions from 2018 to 2022.

According to the indictment, Woodard used public funds to pay for meals, travel reimbursements, and continuing education programs that she did not attend. Public funds may also have contributed to Woodard’s decoration scheme—the indictment alleges that she embezzled money to buy a pillow and pillow case from Target. Woodard claims she purchased the item for a crime victim.

In a media release, GBI Director Chris Hosey said, “This indictment illustrates that no one is above the law.”
