A new partnership has formed between the Athens-Clarke County government and an international organization of cities, which may result in better public services.

The Athens-Clarke County government has joined 23 other communities as members of the Bloomberg Philanthropies City Data Alliance this week.

The alliance includes a total of 65 cities across 12 countries, and says it was established to help communities use data to improve policies and outcomes for residents.

Athens-Clarke County Mayor Kelly Girtz says that the partnership will allow the city to “build the practices and policies that will enable our city to target our resources to optimally respond to our residents’ needs.”

The alliance focuses on outcomes like health care access and affordable housing.
