The UGArden, a community garden managed by the University of Georgia, has started providing herbal tea to UGA dining halls. Initially, 900 bags of chamomile tea were introduced, and due to positive feedback, UGArden plans to expand its offerings with 10,000 bags of Tulsi tea and other flavors like peppermint and chamomile by the fall semester.
UGArden involves students and volunteers in the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of the tea. This collaboration between UGArden and UGA dining services not only enhances students' dining experiences but also promotes the health benefits of herbal teas, which are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory polyphenols.
